If your device has previously been modded and you wish to remove the changes and revert back to a stock system you maybe tempted to factory reset it. While in most cases this is fine, its not always safe to do so and may leave future issues.
Fully power off your device
Hold the L-Trigger and power on your device while STILL holding the L-Trigger until the system boots or displays the database update message.
Once booted you may notice your apps and games have disappeared. This is because the mod and other plugins are temporarily disabled.
Open the Settings app and select 'System Update'
If you see 'msg_system_update' like this example image then you have the update blocker in place which will need removing first.
Follow this guide for help with unblocking updates, once the block is removed you are safe to continue
However, If you see the normal 'Update using WiFi' screen then its already safe to continue
Reboot the vita normally and open VitaShell
if for some reason you dont have VitaShell then either open VitaDeploy and select 'file manager' or open MoleculShell (depending on what you have)
Goto ur0: (NOT ux0:) and highlight the 'tai' folder and press TRIANGLE to open an options menu
Select 'Delete' to delete the ur0:tai/ folder
do the same for the tai_old/ folder if you have one
Reboot your device and perform a system update
Doing it this way we are removing any preinstalled plugins, but we first checked to make sure we woudnt get stuck on firmware 3.60 with potentially no storage
Next time you mod the device, make sure to select 'Reset taihen config.txt' first or you may have issues installing henkaku and the henlo menu freezes on exit.
